Cartesian software goes live at Denmark’s TDC Mobil

Cartesian, specialists in revenue assurance consultancy and tools, today handed over to TDC Mobil, the no. 1 mobile operator in Denmark, a CDR reconciliation system. This will prove that all calls made and SMS messages sent over the network arrive at the billing system or are reported as missing or corrupted.

Phase 2 is to follow in Spring 2004, extending the system to include both roaming records, in TAP3 format, and mobile data events (MMS and GPRS).

At the heart of the solution is Ascertain Matcher which is a reconciliation tool to match events between any number of sources in the network-to-bill chain. An event can be a telephony CDR (call detail record), an SMS billing record (short message service) or anything else which a telecoms operator’s systems generate to track customer usage of their services.

In TDC’s implementation, Matcher is integrated with Ascertain Event Search, ES, to provide fast search and retrieval capabilities across events stored in flat files, so no expensive database transformations are required. In 2004 ES will also be deployed to answer user queries arising from the Emergency Services and from TDC’s customer facing staff, and will find any calls made to or from customers.
