Telewest announces the successful implementation of Intec’s InterconnecT 607 wholesale rating and billing software

Telewest and Cartesian are delighted to announce that they have successfully completed the implementation of version 6.0.7 of Intec’s InterconnecT software. The project was undertaken as a business-as-usual initiative to ensure that Telewest continues to run the most up to date software versions. The new version of InterconnecT ensures that Telewest is on a core version of the software, which includes functionality and performance improvements additional to those provided in previous releases at Telewest.

The project to upgrade InterconnecT to version 6.0.7 delivered new functionality to improve the performance of rating, edit CDRs, automate archiving, and increase the efficiency of reference data loading. The remodeling of reference data has enabled Telewest to improve the efficiency of processes for reference data maintenance and invoice reconciliation. New hardware was implemented to support improved performance and increasing volumes of interconnect traffic.

InterconnecT was originally implemented at Telewest in 1994 by Texas Instruments, and was upgraded to version 6.0.3 by Cartesian in 1999 as part of the Year 2000 initiative. The scope of this implementation was subsequently expanded to include interconnect traffic generated by the switches of the General Cable and Eurobell acquisitions. These projects were undertaken by Cartesian as part of the consolidation of business operational support systems into Telewest’s strategic systems architecture.

Telewest’s implementation of InterconnecT version 6.0.7 rates traffic generated on Telewest’s TDM switches (Marconi SystemX, Nortel DMS100, Nokia DX220, Ericsson AXE10) as well as files of pre-rated operator services calls received from BT and Cable & Wireless.

Martin Rogers, Head of Contribution Management at Telewest, said, “For Telewest the provision of accurate and timely invoices for interconnect partners is of paramount importance.  Improved performance and operational efficiency is a key part of assuring this service. This new release of InterconnecT together with the new hardware has provided a sound foundation for improving the efficiency of our wholesale billing, with significant benefits to cash flow. This was an excellent team effort involving key representatives across the business working in partnership with Cartesian.”

Cartesian’s Managing Director Alan Strong said: “I applaud Telewest for their continued commitment to improving the accuracy and efficiency of their Interconnect platform. It clearly demonstrates their continuing commitment to stay at the forefront of Interconnect best practice through the deployment of best-of-breed tools. Their long term relationship with Cartesian, and commitment to Intec’s InterconnecT, demonstrates the capability of Intec’s product set and builds on Cartesian’s rapidly growing reputation as a market leader in Interconnect and system integration services.”
