Cartesian has established an outsourced rating verification service with a leading UK mobile operator to assist in meeting regulatory metering and billing requirements.
Using real customer billing data, Cartesian re-rate usage records using the Ascertain Rater product that has been configured by Cartesian with publicly available tariff information. Cartesian then undertake an in-depth analysis of any identified rating discrepancies and provide a detailed written report of the analysis performed, issues identified and any recommended actions. Both postpaid and prepaid services are catered for as part of the audit. The use of real customer data means that the coverage of audited event types is very broad, including those that may only occur a handful of times per bill cycle. Additionally, the impact of any rating discrepancies can be immediately assessed in real terms.
The service is entirely hosted by Cartesian, the only interfaces being the supplied customer data and the final written report. Hence the service can be quickly established with minimal IT impact within the operator. Audits are typically undertaken once a month and this allows analysis to ensure the correct implementation of new service offerings very soon after their introduction.
